Adventure Nursery Wall Hanging Crochet Pattern

Add a handmade touch to your little one’s space with this crochet Adventure Nursery Wall Hanging!

This project is especially close to my heart. I designed and made this wall hanging when I found out I was expecting our fourth little birdie. He was a big surprise five years after we decided we were perfectly content with our three big kiddos. I knew starting over again would be a big adventure, so that’s the theme I chose for his nursery. He is now 15 months old and he has been the BEST adventure we could’ve imagined!

It’s been a busy 15 months, but I finally found the time to get the pattern for this wall hanging written up, pattern tested, and ready for its close up!

The Details

This beginner friendly (Easy – level 2) pattern only uses approximately 30-50 yards of yarn per piece so it’s perfect for using up scrap yarn. For color, I chose a fairly realistic color scheme, but the sky’s the limit for color combos here! Varying shades of browns and creams would be gorgeous, or maybe a range of blues, or even try mixing it up with some variegated yarn!

If you’re looking to purchase yarn for this project, Caron Simply Soft would be a great choice because of its huge selection of colors. Additionally, I used Bernat Baby Blanket Tiny yarn in Snow Cap for the clouds to make them extra fuffy, but go with whatever feels right to you!

The pattern is written for worsted weight yarn (size 4), but you could switch it up and use DK weight (size 3) to easily vary the sizes of the trees or mountains.

You’ll also need some Fiber fill or other stuffing and a 2.5′ – 3′ branch (or wooden dowel if you don’t happen to have a branch handy!).

Each piece of the wall hanging is made by joining and lightly stuffing two identical panels so you get the 3D look without having to work in rounds (Check out my Rustic Pumpkins and my Easter Bunny Garland for other patterns with this technique!). For scale, the largest tree is approximately 6″ tall and the finished wall hanging, as pictured, measures about 2.5′ x 2.5′. The pattern is written in US terms.

This adventure nursery wall hanging is the perfect way to add a handmade touch to your nursery or home decor!
